Guys and ballet?

Why don't more guys do ballet? I know they are out there, but not too many.

idk, personally i think guy dancers are hot. :)) but thats just me. its true it does seem a bit more of a girls thing like balanchine has said "ballet is woman". but in the very begining, only guys were dancing ballet and eventually the women took over. but then again, in ballet you have to wear a lot of make up( for performances) and well, most guys dont wear make up. i guess many guys would feel more feminine than masculine and well, idk, mebbe its embarassing to them.

Because other guys call them sissy, because many guy ballet dancers are gay (which might put off the straight ones), because of the punishing routines, the discipline, and the low pay. I wish there were more of them. Rudolf Nureyev and Mikhail Baryshnikov are just faint memories now. Sigh.|||There should be, I love to watch dancers, male and female, dance is such a beautiful and creative thing to watch.|||I'm assuming you are probably American. American society See's it as girly or sissy and it turns most guy's away. other cultures are much better than ours. not perfect but better. it is more common for a family to put a child into ballet in other society's|||One of my former coworkers told me that she would never allow her son to take ballet because it would make him gay. It made me very angry. This is how stereotypical our American society is. They view ballet as something for girls, and guys that do it must be homosexual. There is nothing wrong with guys dancing (or being homosexual). And as far as it not being manly, how many other sports do you know where guys get to hang around with girls wearing skin tight outfits? Male dancers are also SO athletic. I'm sure if you've ever seen a true professional male dancer you know what I mean. I wish there were more guys too. We're working on it. My future sons (and daughters) will dance.|||insecure with their own sexuallity xxxx personally i think men ballet dancers look ded strong n awsome xxx|||some guys think that ballet is only for girls and only gays. but i think that guys should do ballet because it helps with their flexibility. their girlfriends do it so why can't they?
