Between what age should a ballet dancer start pointe? When is it too late?
it all depends on how well u are i started ballet at the age of seven and didn't get my toe shoes till I was 15 or sixteen. your teacher should let you know when she feels your ready or if you think you are ask her for her input and she what she says they hurt like ---- and make your toes bleed so make sure you put tape and wool in the top she will show you. and good luck
Between what age should a ballet dancer start pointe? When is it too late?opera cdIt depends really. I started on pointe when i was 11/12 and grade 5 i think. It depends when your ankles are strong enough - your teacher should decide this. However if she hasnt mentioned anything and you think your ready (dont just start because your friends have) have a word with her.
I dont think you can be too old - if your older youll probably find it easier, if you start too young though it can damage your toes.
You can get things called ouch-pouches which go around your toes and in the bottom of your pointe shoes which make it hurt less - after 4 years i strongly recommend them! In regard to the girl above they dont always make your toes bleed so dont worry
Good luck and let us know if you start

It can be to early, but its never really too late, unless you have your heart set on the NYCB. When your feet stop growing, the bones are ossified, and you are safe to go on pointe without damaging your bones and deforming your feet. More time on 3/4 pointe building good basics is more important than trowing on a pair of pointe shoes and doing eleves and echappes for hours. Pointe is easy. 3/4 pointe is hard!!|||Dancers start pointe after 3 years or so of ballet experience usually around age 11. Some dancers get their first audition at age 14.|||around 11/13
