Does everyone dream of writing their own stories?

Since a kid I have always loved dreaming up and fantasizing about good story ideas. I am begginning to wonder if I should try to publish some of my stuff. However, I don't know if it is a common experience for someone to try and create narratives that rival those I read and see in the theater.

I do. I believe each of us has a unique and interesting stories to tell. But I do not how to start and what are the essentials details to write. It would be a best gift to myself (if ever I'm done writing a beautiful story about my life)!|||I sure do. I try, but it seems I never get past the third chapter. I just run out of steam or get bogged down with some inconsequential point or event. Poetry is easier, and I've published several of my poems. I wish I could write stories.|||I've been a writer my whole life, but I don't know how common it is. I guess a lot of people think writing a novel sounds glamorous and they should do it (it doesn't help that more and more celebrities seem to be jumping on that bandwagon. Most of the them have ghostwriters.) - But I don't know if many of them have any idea of what goes in to making a good story. Most people who start writing novels never finish them.
