Dream Theater DVDs?
Which one would you get:
Live at Budokan or Score?
Dream Theater DVDs?opera miniI have both, so hopefully I sound credible to you here.
Budokan definately covers a MUCH wider variety of their work (as, unlike in Score, they don't do any of their BIG epics) and it has the awesome Instrumedly.
Score, on the other hand, has the incredible orchestral back-up to the Six Degrees suite, Octavarium, and Metropolis pt. 1, all of which, in my opinion, are absolutely unmissable. You also have the bonus of it being based later than Budokan, so James LaBrie's voice is even further recovered and thus sounds much better in Score. The documtary on score (The Score so Far) is also much better than the one on Budokan (if that matters to you...). Raise the Knife on Score (song from the FII demos, in case you didn't know) is also the absolute best performance of the song (and it IS a good song), same goes for Another Won (from the Majesty days). There are also a few extra live performances (I can remember Honor Thy Father at the moment...) from other locations on the tour.
Personally, I think Score is much better, so I would personally suggest you get that first, but Budokan is also very good, so don't write it off if you choose not to get it now.
