How do i get my surround sound to play whats heard on my tv while watching cable?
I just bought a "sony dream system" home theater system. As soon as I got it hooked up to my tv I put on a dvd and everything worked wonderfully. It was the same story for when I popped in a cd. However, I can't seem to get any sound out of the surround sound speakers when I watch regular cable. I changed the setting to "tv 1" where i hooked up the wires, but still no sound. Am I missing some wires?

Try hooking up the audio out on the tv to your sony system.|||No, the cable signal isn't compatible or is not encoded with the Sony digital data. It has to be a digital output. Contact your cable TV provider.|||Sometimes you have to ENABLE the AUDIO OUTS on your CABLE BOX in the MENU before they'll make any sound at all...Also, your cable box has it's OWN volume control and you might have it turned down TOO far.|||The shows you're watching might only be in stereo, not surround. If they are in surround, check the menu options on the TV setup and make sure the output is set correctly.
