It all depends on what is avaliable to you. Some places near big cities have acting classes for all ages. But in most of the country the only place you can get acting classes is in college at a major university.|||Some theaters offer acting classes where they have a play and you must do everything in x weeks.|||Theatre is nowaday's as close to plain acting as you are going to get. Besides, Sigourney Weaver, Whoopi Goldberg, and George Burns all got their big break on the stage. Start with high school to tone your skills. Then go to a prestigeous acting university. As they say in showbiz "Break a leg".|||Take theatre. It's the first step to becoming an actor|||Theater is important to acting, it is good to know the history of certain things to understand why you do certain things, how they would be done and the history of theater is just very interesting in general.|||go to your local theatre or palace an d see whats up|||well many actors that are successful took theatre in college or acting. but theatre gives you a good background in acting and you know what to expect because you have to do a lot of plays.. and you'll get recommendations and can network and your plays can be your resume, because when you audition for roles some kind of experience helps.... honey, there are millions of people that have that same thought that they can just go to an audition and read a part and they're hired.. but hollywood has a lot of competition and you gotta look the part, know the part and be the part.. you don't want to look like an amateur just trying to get lucky... it's just like a job interview... don't apply for something that you don't have the experience in. also you can start real small and audition for commercials... get a portfolio done, and you can do modeling at the same time as well. but at least if you do theatre you'll have something to fall back on and you'll have experience.|||Depending on what city you live in try community theater first you will learn the basics- It's free and you can get your feet wet- look in your local yellow pages and try internet search for theater in your town/state area|||i agree with chromecranium 100 %|||Call the community theater in the city where you live, ask them to recommend a school where you can take acting classes.
