My girlfriend's dream is to write screen plays. What roads does she need to get on to make this
She really likes to write. She is an English major now and a History minor. She is also taking electives that deal with theater. how can she become a screen writer. I know there is a lot of crap with the strikes and all, but I imagine it will be worked out by the time she makes it there. Does she need a specific major? is there a specific way to get to that point where you can be a writer for TV shows and movies?
My girlfriend's dream is to write screen plays. What roads does she need to get on to make this a reality?symphonyThe way to become a writer is to write. Write ideas, write stories, write screenplays.
When she has something that she thinks is ready, she can go one of two ways. One is to get a literary agent and to sell it to movie producers. The other is to try to produce it herself. Producing it yourself is a big job, especially for someone who has never done it before.
If she feels like writing for the theatre first, then she has the ability to get things made off-Broadway. That often is how writers get a start. It does require thinking in terms of a stage play rather than a movie, at least at first. Once she gets a production or two under her belt (even if it never gets as far as off-Broadway), she may find things get easier from there.
Good luck.
