and Why? What are your favorite songs by each? (or the ones you know)
Mine choice is (obviously) Porcupine Tree first, then Opeth then Dream Theater.

PT, they're refreshing, inspired and inspiring, it's music not only made with the head but with feeling too, they are constantly evolving (there is nearly nothing in common with(?) their early works and their last album), ... I could go on for hours!!

No 2. I came across them through Steven Wilson and listen mostly to the music they recorded after collaborating with him, so they could never be No 1.

No 3. DT (I would have put some other group at this place-but since u asked about these three...) They're to technical for me too. I do not doubt their musical abilities in anyway, it's just that I cannot relate to their music. In my ears it sounds more like a statement ("Hey, I can play music") than an honest musical proposal that can make me lift off. On the other hand, maybe I just don't understand their music.
