The events depicted in The Passion of the Christ ... Biblical truths or the dreams of an ill nun?
The Passion of the Christ (the movie) combines Catholic religion with Renaissance art. It is a movie, nothing more. Does it document Roman capital punishment? Maybe? Is there passion in being executed, I doubt it. Nobility maybe, but passion no.
Jesus was executed and the details can be found in the four gospels. There is no more detail.
However there is more to the Christian message than Jesus dying.
Start with the basics: God is spirit, we worship God in spirit and in truth. God kept his/her promise with Jesus (the name Jesus means God helps/saves/delivers); God raised Jesus from the dead (our hope for eternal life); and finally Jesus will return. This is the good news that Jesus asked his disciples to spread.
Movies are wonderful, but they present the director's view, but books sometimes are better. In this case, I would like to see what is really there for myself. Maybe you would like to join me.
