What events and attitudes led up to the French and Indian War?
I am glad you asked.....You see, it all started on a Thursday night so very long ago.
Jacque LeBlu and Ohsofan Gandi were arguing about the big Saturday night feast at their friend Ted's house.
You know....wine, chicks, scrabble! The works. Annnnyhow, Ohsofan got downright possessive about monopolizing this big Shindig with his own brand of grub.
Well, wouldn't ya know it....Jacque takes exception to this and plants a stiff uppercut to Ohsofan's right Cheek..........And the rest is history.....as they like to say!

The French were friendly with two tribes but became enemies of others due to the fact the indians they were friends with fought the other tribes.
Further to that the French soon learned of certain tribes lack of shall we say diplomacy and honesty so created a lot of friction. The Iroquois had a system of slaves and torture for captured peoples that the French did not understand at first but learned over time. An early meeting that Champlain had with some indians resulted in Champlain shooting a few cheiftains with his gun (very early rifle). This created a problem from then on.
The French had to help their allies against their enemies but it did not help the algonquins as they were wiped out in the indian wars of the time. The Jesuits did not help things either as they created a lot of problems. Many were killed even by friendly indians.
People like Raddison and Groseillers wrote about their dealings with different tribes and their accounts are an insight to the indian methods of doing things.
