I'm not too familiar with the American Islam experience, but I do know my Constitution. From the very outset of the country's creation, the Forefathers wanted all Americans to experience a land of religious freedom (this is the first amendment to the U.S. Constitution, AKA "The Bill of Rights")! Though individual citizens may have shown their prejudice from time to time, the U.S. Federal Government has religious freedom stamped in its very foundations. Hope this helps in some way...
