Why do they serve oysters at high class social events?

Why do they serve oysters at high class social events?globe theaterThey are not messy or stimky at all. The shell is like a little plate that holds the flesh. Most people put a little mignonette or lemon juice on it, and there you go. They have a clean, slightly briney flavor. The reason why fresh oysters are so expensive is because they have to be used within 48 hours of being taken from the sea. So as you can imagine most of the cost is in the shipping and refrigeration fees. I think alot of people are intimidated by oysters, because they're raw and aren't particularly pretty to look at. They do have a "slimy" texture to them, but their refreshing flavor and coldness make them a staple at cocktale parties.

hAVE u been to a low class event???
because they serve oysters too... puhahaha|||We are not high class, though, I do go fine dining. Let me tell you, our oysters from home is better than the restaurant style. For those who love oysters is like having a treat. The only reason why they serve it at social events because its all about showing off....money wise. Sometimes its hard to fine them...thats why they can be pricey. Food is not cheap when throwing a party....its not an original turkey, spiral ham, and mash potato.|||Good day,
