American newspaper(s) that best report international events...?
I enjoy reading the newspaper, but I'm usually put off by the price they sell internetional newspapers for outside of their original country. British newspapers can quite often be 3-4 times the face value. So when I'm abroad, I don't tend to buy a newspaper because ethier it's in a different language, or it consists of events that don't concern me (domestic events). I'm visiting the US soon and I'm wondering if anyone could suggest any newspapers that report on significiant international events?
Thanks
American newspaper(s) that best report international events...?mr messed upIn general, most smaller American newspapers tend to only take international news off the wires, while bigger papers have their own foreign bureaus.
The New York Times has a decent international section in each paper, and it should be sold in most cities. If you're visiting a large city, the big local paper there should be good (e.g. Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune).
The Wall Street Journal, considered one of America's two national newspapers, has world news (or at least HAD; I don't know how it's changed since being acquired by Rupert Murdoch). I'm not all that familiar with USA Today, but I'd suspect it would carry at least major world headlines.
If you're settling in for a while, consider magazines like TIME and Newsweek. You might also try to find somewhere with the Internet and just go online to get your news from the BBC or similar.
