Can the extension shaft on a 92 acura Legend be removed is there a speacial pulley..?

I removed the differential from the Acura and upon inspection, I noticed the extension or differential shalf gear was worned.. it's the shalf between the transaxle and differential .. I'm sure it could be removed .. if so .. Is there a tool needed .. a special pulley .. thanks..
