He deserved it? After the way he took a Giant team that wasn't expected to do much to win the Superbowl i think he more than deserves it.

Of course, much of my fears came to pass when there were numerous complaints from players and near mutiny at certain points of his tenure (even though I never liked players who whine to the press, keep that **** in-house!), and then there were the second half collapses, and the Giants were out-played and out-coached in his first two playoff games. I'll admit that after last season, I thought the Giants should have made a change. BUT, you have to give Coughlin credit, he made the changes he needed to make. He got the players behind him this season, got them to play as a team, and it showed in the playoffs this year. I was very surprised that a man of his age could show any flexibility and would be willing to do things even a little bit differently than he has in the past. Coughlin has also opened up to the media this year, and the fans have gotten to know the other side of Tom Coughlin (see his incredible work with Leukemia patients). I found out that he is a man of great integrity, and he gained my respect even before the Giants won the Super Bowl. They say that you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but Coughlin proved that there are exceptions to the rule. I'll gladly eat crow for all the criticism I had of Coughlin over the years. Good for him.
