Do you have any ideas for events for a gay medical student group?

Our goal is to raise awareness of LGBT issues in health care among medical students and other health professionals and pre-professionals. What are some good events we can have to help educate others around us, or help out our gay patients, or just to make the club more active?

I feel you need to educate the GLBT people on a few issues.

1. SAFE SEX as a lot don't seem to get this. I have met to many who want anal sex without a condom. This is very high risk as you know!!! That even goes for how to put the Condom on and what is best to use as lube. What one should do if the condom breaks, slips off and other things like this.

2. What types of diseases or sexually transmitted diseases we are more susceptible to. What other things we should be checked for on a regular basis.

3. People if they are sexually active should be checked for STD's even if you are having safe sex. Lots don't seem to know that. They think oral sex is safe and you can pick up different things from that.

4. That they are not invincable and that HIV can happen to anyone if you are not taking the required precausions.

5. Give some recent stats of what STD's are increasing in the GLBT community and why.
