Do you have any ideas on fundraising events?

my best friend is having a really bad time just now. his gran has just died and he used to live with her everyday instead of his mum so he was really close to her, he is in so much debt and has no money, he has just been kicked out of college and he is beginning to have a drink problem and wants to kill hiomself. but i want to help him by raising money up for him to at least pay off something. and to do it i want to do some sort of fundraising event so it doesnt feel like im just handing him over money and it would be something fun aswell. can you please help

I've been heavily involved with nonprofit fund raising for years....so here are some ideas I have that could be relatively low in cost for you and still raise a good amount of money...

1) Consider a mail campaign - depending on how many mailing addresses you have, you never know how many people might respond to your cause and just write you a check! This works amazingly well for several organizations that are short on time AND resources.

2) Instead of having a garage sale at your home, try having a "garage" sale on eBay! Think of it as a virtual way to get rid of some stuff AND make a little more money...(make sure you include the cost of shipping those items online or else you'll end up losing money!).
