Extension of crucifix question...?
I posted a question earlier about melting my fathers fathers ring down into a crucifix to give to my dad for christmas. So far I have received many negative answers. My father already took the diamonds out to make a pair of earrings for my mother (uh oh... I guess thats where I learned my heartlessness from) I'm not sure whats so wrong about melting something of importance to make it into something he can use. I thought it would make him happy to be able to do something with the ring that he really has no use for. At least now he could use his fathers gift in everyday life. I would like some feedback on why I should not go ahead with this... and not rudeness. I would just like to understand... I definately wont do it if something someone has to say makes sense. I Love my Dad and I love my Grandpa... I was just trying to do something special.
Extension of crucifix question...?soap operaI come from a family of Roman Catholics and we carry the crucifix around our necks as a reminder of our Lord's suffering and death on the cross. We often touch the crucifix when we needed to say "Thank You, Lord" and when we feel afraid at times. I think your idea of melting a ring that cannot be used as it is into a beautiful crucifix is a great idea. You can tell your dad that it is not just a reminder of his ancestors, but most importantly, it becomes a symbol of your Christ-like love for him. JUST DO IT! God bless you and your family.
