Getting into extension 1 maths?
Although I'm in advanced I couldn't get into extension 1 maths for year 11, and they said they still have room for people who get good marks.
However, I know for a fact that they don't just promote people with good marks, they do it to the students that they THINK will do better.
How can I convince the head teacher or my teacher to get me into extension(assuming I get good marks)?
Getting into extension 1 maths?opera musicThis is a tough situation. Maths is a really black and white subject, you can't really show your ability in math just by talking or making movies or some kind of fun out of school projects about it. And there's so many aspects to it as well, just because you understand trigonometry, doesn't make you good at calculus.
But there are ways you can prove you're enthusiastic about the subject and that you can learn things quickly. If you want to move up, the key here is to make sure you stand out in your current class as the black sheep, too talented for the rest of the class. You need to appear way ahead of everyone else.
If your school enters any math competitions (such as the American Math Challenge or the United Kingdom Maths Trust) you can try to join them and obviously, DO WELL in them consistently. Quite often, these test your limits in math with problem solving and more real-life scenarios.
