Historical events--how is it !!!???concert venueThe dirt comes from wind and erosion. It's the same reason why dinosaur bones are underground. An animal dies, the bones are picked apart by other animals. Wind blows over the bones covering them. Maybe there is a flood that deposits silt on top of. Layers build up. That's how geology works.

The earth is in a state of constant motion, from the tectonic plates to the very ground you're standing on, erosion, wind, sand, old buildings, everything eventually turns to dust and is covered up....you can see the sediments and different ages in some rock formations, most notably the Grand Canyon, but other places too.
