How can I get into events management?

I am a uni graduate and I really would love to get into events management/co ordination. I can't seem to find any jobs that are open to graduates only experienced candidates.

There are college courses for this, many with hands-on experience. Otherwise, look around for charity organisations that run functions for fund-raising etc., volunteer to help, start building up experience. Or contact your local hotels, they often run special weeks, for seniors or other target groups, there could be something there to get you started. Or jump in the deep end and organise something yourself - a theme evening in your local pub? Get thinking - there's lots of potential.
