How come I can't play anything by John Petrucci yet?
I just started playing guitar 2 weeks ago. I am trying to learn a solo by the guitarist of Dream Theater and I can't even get it right It's been 2 weeks. I give up What the hell?

if youve only been playing for 2 weeks you dont have the skill to be able to play something from someone of his caliber. that being said, i dont know what youre trying to play if its hard or not. but just keep on practicing and eventually youll get it. Ive been playing for over 3 years and i dont think i can play his stuff yet.|||Youve only played for two weeks, whereas Petrucci has gone to Berklee to study music, been in Multiple music projects for years, and doesnt stop practicing.Go get his book rock discipline and he will teach you his own lessons, complete with warmups to get your fingers trained.Note:you will have to practice technique above all else.You cant drill through a solo and try to nail it right off the bat. Break it down into peices, work them out, get them to speed, move on to the next.I wouldnt even attempt his solos until you have played for a decent amount of time.Two weeks? Im giving advice but honestly in the back of my head Im thinking joke topic.
