Just pop the plastic covers off. Don't worry about harming the battery. They are tougher than most people think.|||Move the plastic covers, hook the wire up and place the plastic cover back on. I have a side mount battery as well. You could look into getting an Optima yellow top with the top post and the side mount as well. That way you can hook your cars power up to the side mount (if that is how it is right now) and run the power wire to the top post, or vice versa.
