I filed an extension & payed the taxes for 2006, but I forgot to file, am i screwed?the grand theaterIf you managed to pay the tax by 4/15, you are fine.
Get the tax return filed.
Penalties are charge for owing money. Once you got the tax paid, no more money was owed. Even if you paid that money between 4/15 and 10/15, your penalty would be failure to pay (1/2% per month) not failure to file (5% per month).

Depends on if you end up owing or not - If you paid the taxes by 4/15/07 then you should be OK if you are now due a refund. However, if you are owed a refund, and you do not file by 4/15/10, you will lose the refund...
If you end up owing after you file the actual tax return, then you may be charged interest and a late payment penalty.
If you sent a payment in with the extension, you should get a note from the IRS stating they have this payment and need your tax return...
File the return as soon as you can.
