its a 7+gb full working dvd with the menus and everything when i open it with vlc media player. i want it just like that on the dvd. or how do i just get the video files without the extra stuff(menus etc) so it will fit on a 4.7gb dvd+r

You won't be able to fit a 7GB video file on a single layer DVD because the menus occupy negligible amount of file size. You'll most likely need to burn on dual layer (about 8.9GB). Also, a video DVD is typically made up of several VOB, IFO and BUP files so if you have a 7GB VOB file, it must be broken down into smaller files. You can try a DVD authoring program to do this but I doubt that'll work. You'll need some kind of utility program that converts this file into standardized DVD files. Hope this helps.
