I haven't yet received my W-2's from a former employer. How can I file an extension withou
They are by law required to deliver to you by whatever means, by 1/31/2007, but they still can get by legally until 2/28/2007. After that you can call the IRS and post a complaint. Have you called them to see if you have a W2, or it was returned to them because your address changed, or it was lost by the post office, happens all the time. Call and ask for a copy and that you want to pick it up in person. And yes you can file an extension without it, you need to be pretty close to what you earned and what taxes were withheld so that your extension will be true to what you owe. And if you are due a refund, no worries, the IRS could care less when you file, so no extension is necessary and you file for your refund when you get your W2.

You need to call the IRS. You can file your taxes without your W-2 if you have paystubs. They will tell you how. Good Luck!|||Just file without them and if they show up do an amended filing. My sister had this problem too. Unless it was a lot of money I wouldn't sweat it. Though, I am sure that there are ways to guestimate at the tax office.|||You can file an EXTENSION with no back up. You just have to be able to estimate your tax bill.
You can't file you 1040 without the W-2 as previously mentioned. You can file a claim with the IRS for not receiving a W-2. By law you were to have received it by Feb 15th. ... follow the link below, the IRS will send you a form that you can use if the former employer never gets around to it.
