How come when I sleep late I get more hours and when I sleep early less hours?
Hey guyz
I've been sleeping late for about 2 1/2 years now.. and I mostly get enough sleep throughout the night but recently I joined the track team and it gets me exhausted easily and I end up sleeping early but waking up 4 hours after.. is this normal? is it because I'm too used to sleeping late that I'm keeping track of when I wake up? Please tell me what I should do, I don't want to have a sleepy look on my face and not have enough energy to do anything because I'm sleeping early. >.<

What matters is how deep is your sleep or the quality of your sleep. When you are exhausted after exercise, you tend to sleep deeper and therefore need less sleep.
Some people who take sleep pills, do not sleep well and therefore after many hours of sleep, they still feel tired.

There could be several answers to this, but one to consider is stress. If you have a lot on your mind, things you need to do, pressure to excel, it may be that you're just not letting yourself relax enough for a good night's sleep.
Try to get your mind empty of all these stresses before you go to sleep, talk yourself into letting them go for the night so you can rest and address them better the next day.
You could also, if you can fit it in, try a 15-30 cat-nap earlier in the evening or late afternoon so that you can stay up a little later. The little nap will help to relieve some stress too.
