I have excellent credit.. Tons of bills i have never been late...But i am getting out of a relations

my own again without help and i know money is going to be tight and i'm afraid that i will end up getting behind...How does bankruptcy work now a days? Do you have to pay anything back for total liquidation?

No don't file for bankruptcy. That stays on your credit report for 7 years. Do you have any savings? Great, if not start putting as much as you can. Direct Deposit to your savings account. Downgrade things like phone, internet, etc. Cut out the things that you truly don't need. Sell things if you have to, do anything but file for bankruptcy. Please. You will save yourself a massive headache by avoiding bankruptcy.

If you have excellent credit and have never been late, then just see what you can cut out and deal with your bills.|||Google "Debt Management" and call one. They'll work with your budget to get your bills under control and start the process of getting out of debt WITHOUT damaging your credit. There will be a small monthly fee up to $15. You'll have 1 payment instead of however many you have now, and it will probably be less than what you're paying now.|||If you have excellent credit and are all caught up you don't need to be thinking about bankruptcy. If you cannot make it on your own in the world you need to think about a better job, or a roommate, or otherwise cutting expenses. Filing for bankruptcy would be expenses and your current excellent credit would be screwed for several years, maybe forever. Work now on avoiding it. Live within your now reduced means.|||If you have a bankruptcy on your credit history, you won't be able to rent a good apartment without a co-signer.
