I ovulate very late just a week before my period starts. Is this normal?

I have been charting my ovulation cycle since last 3 months. And i found out that i ovulate just a week before my period starts. I had pre pregnancy check up & had the blood test, pap smear done. everything was normal.

But no luck so far. I am worried is it bcoz of the late ovulation that i am not able to conceive. Also last 2 months i had bleeding for just 2 days and it was very heavy with strong menstrual pains. i never had such pains bfr.

Also i have read somewhere that late ovulation may cause miscarriage, i dont know whether this is true.

Kindly advise me on this & how shud i increase my chances of getting pregnant.

Average luteal phase (time after ovulation, but before the 1st day of your cycle), is 12-14 days, a minimum of 9 days, and a max of 16 days. To lengthen your luteal phase your progesterone is probably low. You would need to get a test done after ovulation to test your progesterone levels. You can get a progesterone cream from Arbonne, or just do a search online. Or have your doc give you a Rx for it. I don't know if insurance covers it when your not pregnant. And if you have the tendency to have lower progesterone, you should take it in your first trimester that is a HUGE reason for miscarriage that can be treated. After a few cycles you will see your luteal phase lengthen. A shorter luteal phase lessens the chance of pregnancy and increases your risk of miscarriage it's not when you ovulate, it's how long from your ovulation day to when you start your period that is important. I don't ovulate till cycle day 20-25 sometimes, but don't start till cycle day 35. Good luck and I hope it helps.
