I'm getting a 2nd cat, do I get a 2nd litter box?regal theaterYes, I would, at least just to start out. They don't HAVE to use different ones, but for territorial issues, I would. And don't put them next to each other.

It's better to have a box for each cat. I have 4 cats and needed 3 boxes to get one of them to stop peeing on the floor.|||it doesn't matter what gender the cats are, and no you don't need a second litter box unless you have somewhere else you want to put in in the house. the cats will share the same litter and you might put a little bit more litter but mainly you just need to scoop it out a LOT more. i have 3 cats, and they all share one box.
good luck with new kitty!!|||I'd get a larger one for the both of them, my friends cats share 1 box but it's a big one. (1 is male, 1 is female) though she's had problems with her female cat (urine infection problems) I'd go for 1 large one but keep an eye on them in case of problems.|||I think you should add a lot more of the litter in the old litter box.|||It might be good to even though that would mean two litter boxes to clean out. My brother doesn't have a second one and his cats poop everywhere.|||You get another box, or even two more. The litterbox rule is: # of cats + 1.
