Is it really okay to call someone late at night?

i wanna call my friend and ask her something (not very important though) but i don't wanna bother her at night if she's out or at home studying or what not busy...but i'm pretty sure she hasn't slept yet

what i'm wondering is that is it really ok to call at late hours cause i never asked her if that's ok since its mostly daytime i make calls

I know sometimes you want to ask people something, but its better to wait. Nighttime is a time for people to wind down, and especially if you dont know if they are sleeping, you shouldn't call them. Also, you won't recieve a great answer late.
