Is it too late for condolences??
Several months ago I found out that one of my old boss' wife passed away a few months earlier. Initially I was going to just send a notecard expressing my sorrow on this news, but I didn't. A few weeks later I bought a card and all I've been doing with it is moving it around my house--to my coffe table, nightstand, kitchen table etc. all with the intent of sitting, writing and sending, but never quite getting to that point. At the end of every wknd I feel bad b/c there's THAT card on the table. Understand, this was actually one of, if not the only, favorite boss I ever had (and I've had plenty). We worked really well together and I worked for him for 9 years. I only left b/c office circumstances changed, he's old school and I couldn't get the money I needed or health benefits there. I left about 7 yrs ago, but occasionally gave a call. I learned a lot from him about the industry and life stuff in general. And, NO, there wasn't anything physical---he was very upstanding.

Tell him what you said here, that you learned so much from him and you are so sorry to hear about his wife and that you are thinking of him and his family. I promise you, he will appreciate it.
