Is it too late for medical school?
I am a 38 year old science teacher. I have always wanted to be a doctor but chose to get married and have a family instead. Now that my family is settled and growing I want to pursue my dream. Do you think it's too late and how would I start the med school process?
Is it too late for medical school?passions soap operaThere were at least 5-6 people like this in my class of 180 that graduated med school and this was 4 yrs ago. They all had other careers prior to medicine as well. It's potential an expensive process but worth it if that's what you want as a career. First you have to take the prerequisite premed science classes:Bio, physics, chem, o-chem mainly. Then you have to take the MCAT test (like the SAT but mostly science). Then you apply. If you're a science teacher you would probably thrive in the environment b/c most all of the people in med school are there b/c they want to be there and they want to learn the material; my HS and undergrad weren't like this at all. Good luck, mate.

It's never too late for nothing. I love the Medical field and if it's something you have always wanted to do, why not. I have always wanted to be a nurse, and that's what I'm working on! Good Luck!!!|||I know a Doctor who had a Ph.D. in Engineering and raised her family and in her 40's decided that she really wanted to be a Family Practice Physician and went back to school to do that. She is now a Physician who has a very busy practice.
