No, better late than never.|||There is absolutely nothing wrong with neutering your cocker this late in the game. I spayed my female springer spaniel at 6 years of age, and its a good thing I did because the vet told me that there were several cysts on her ovaries.|||No. Neutering so late may not affect any behaviors or habits he's already developed but it will prevent testicular and prostate cancers and it may mellow him out a little. Good for you - better late than never!|||it can be risky. The older a dog/cat is when you get them "fixed" the more dangerous it is for them on their health, as the anesthetic and drugs are hard on the body. Although if you are going to get it done, be sure to get a blood test done first as for a "pre-surg" or a "Geriatric Profile" either of those tests will make sure that he is safe to go under anesthesia.
