My finacee and I have been trying to conceive for 8 months now. After getting negative response every month, this month my period is 4 days late, (my period is always regular) I took 2 HPT and both were negative. On the 4th day I saw dark red spoting, this is not normal for the start of my period. Is it possible I am pregnant or is there something else?

its better to get a doctor to check your hcg levels by a blood test so that you can know either way. Some spotting can be caused by inplantation

It is definitely possible that you are pregnant, or you could be having abnormal menses. Doctors usually say to wait until you are 6 weeks to come in for a blood test for this exact reason. I'd suggest that you wait a few more days to see if your period comes, and if not, take another test.

I had this same problem when we first started trying, because I really wanted to be pregnant. I somehow convinced myself that I was pregnant and I had all of the symptoms. But in the end, my period came at an abnormal time, and the doctor told me that it is common for women to work themselves up when they are ttc. You've been ttc for 8 months, so it's possible that you are in the same boat that I was (and still am).
