My boyfriend and I had sex without a condom but I was On Depo Vera, I'm supposed to go in for another shot in a couple of days, So we used condoms a week before I knew I was coming off of it. My breasts are tender, and swollen a bit, and I think my period is late. I'm really sensitive to birth control, the last one I was on almost killed me, and I went on Depo Vera, the side effects are horrible. I'm really scard. I told my mom, and my boyfriend, I'm scard I may be pregnant after doing all my research. My mom said she wouldnt be angry if I was, and she'd take care of it while i was in school, but I'm not ready for children thats why i got on birth control. someone please help me, I'm so scard.

Take a pregnancy test to be sure.

I used to be on Depo-vera and I had side effects like yours but even worse. I kept thinking I was pregnant and I also got migraines and depression while on it.

It takes at least one month to be able to get pregnant once the shot is due. When I quit depo, it took me 4 monthes once the shot was due to get my period again.

So don't worry, it is probably some nasty side effects. In fact, you might want to switch to something else. There are a lot of horror story out there about depo. If you want a birth control with the 'convenience' of the shot, try Nuva-Ring. It has little to no side effects. It has the lowest dose forumla.

So get a pregnancy test done.
