My period is late, negative test results...whats going on with me?

So...My husband and I are ttc#1...I got my last period on October 7th, making today, day number 40...I've always had 29-33 day cycles, and when I didnt get my period after a week, I thought Maybe I was pregnant. I tested this morning and the test (first response) came up negative...Other than a late period I dont have any other symptoms- random neausea and headaches but thats about it...I plan on seeing a doctor on Monday (which will make me 2 weeks late) if I dont get AF, but can anyone offer any other explainations in the mean time to satisfy my curiosity?

There are a lot of reasons you could be late. But if you are TTC then lets hope its because you are pregnant. But if you are stressed, or even thinking that you are pregnant it can cause your period to be late. Wait a couple of days and take another hpt first thing in the morning. If this is still negative ask your dr for a beta blood test. This test will give you an exact number of the HCG level in your blood and will give you a definate answer to whether or not you are pregnant. If you are not pregnant then ask your dr to look into a hormone imbalance which could be causing you to be late. Good luck and hope you get your BFP (big fat positive) soon.
