Period 2 weeks late and test is negative?

Hi all,

Well I have had a hell of a day my boyfriend and I have been trying for a fair while now to get pregnant. This month I have found myself 2 weeks late. So got a home preg test and done it and come back negative. I have been lucky I have older sisters and they 1 has told me she did 3 home tests before she knew she was it just must have been to early and that some gals cant detect until they are 5 to 6 weeks pregnant eventhough the box does say it detectes a week before your period. I have also had pains in my side first starting from the right and now in the past week my left. Im just wondering weather anyone else has had a problem like this before. And weather it could still be possible that I am pregnant or maybe somthing else might be causing my period not comming I am usually very much on time. My sister suggested if i dont have a period by next week to go to the doctor this is just all so hard alot of waiting.
