Taking birth control late?
Tomorrow I start taking my inactive pills for Lutera...today I took it about 4 hours late and almost 2 weeks ago, I took it an hour and a half late. Other than that, I've taken the pill everyday and pretty close to the same time. Is there any risk of getting pregnant or am I still safe?
Thanks!
Taking birth control late?chicago theaterYou should be ok...just remember that staying protected (taking the pill about the same time everyday) is a VERY big responsibility but def worth it. You should be ok since it was only a couple hours. I know I even took a pill an hour late one day and i just used another form of birth control just so i wouldn't be paranoid. Just use a condom for the next couple of days just to be sure!

my doctor told us that a few hours late is ok, just not a day, if you are concerned use a different method of birthcontrol for the next few weeks, though you should be ok|||I don't know anythign about Lutera. But I know that within an hour or two is usually ok. Week 3 is more sensitive than the other weeks. I would recommend using back up birth control for 2 weeks (through the inactive and first week of next active pills). Read the booklet that comes with your pills to determine. I think mine (Yasmin) has a time period that it recommends. The more often you are late or miss the more likely you are to not protected. Usually (and this is also provided with the booklet) it shows the effectiveness of the pills and how they're taking. I believe even if it's late it's like 95+% effectice. If you threw the booklet away either refill your prescription or just goggle it.|||Yeah, you're still safe. Taking your pill a few hours late on one singular occasion isn't too bad. Now if you had missed 2 pills in a row, then you would have to use a back-up method. But you're on your white pills now, you don't have anything to worry about when it's this close to your period. Read the instructions that came with your pills, or go to the manufacturer's website.|||Sarabera,
You are ok. Those white pills don't have anything in them. Many women just throw them away. The reason you have them is to remind you to take it every day. It is good you are being responsible.|||I appreciate your being so responsible!
Its always best to take your pill at the same time every day so that a good habit is established. With combined pills a few hours either way isn't going to make any difference. I've often taken my pill 12-14 hrs late when sleeping at my boyfriends house or at work and it just works fine. I try not to make it a habit!
