What are my chances of getting a dorm?

I go to FIU, I submitted a housing agreement a few days ago. There is no specified deadline, but the website said it's a first come first serve basis. I did called them up, however, and they said they were still accepting applications, so I submitted one with no problem. The reason I'm applying so late (class starts Aug 20) is because of family issues where my parents have to move away. I just wanted to know does it seem like I would have any chance of getting a room this semester, or do I have to wait?

You are cutting it really close. Most people put in their housing applications by April or May. I'm not really sure what your chances are and I don't think people on here can tell you. You need to call the University housing and ask them the status of your app or ask if you are on a wait list or if your application is being processed. Don't wait until August do it today or tomorrow. If things are full, you may be put in a crumby dorm, not of your choice, but it will do. Or, they could put you up in a hotel (sometimes universities do that). I think the only people that can answer you the best is the school.
