What are the chances of getting an internal job when my supervisor knows I hate her guts?

I hate my supervisor and she knows it. I have been with the company since April and I just applied for an internal job that I believe is great for career growth since she rejected my resume for an open position within the dept. I am constantly yelled at for the stupidest things. I have never been late and I complete my work on time. I have been to work everyday except one sick day since I was hired. I always did what I was told to do and I don't talk back when she held me responsible for things I didn't do (I tried once and it wasn't pretty).

Can she ruin my chance of getting the other job by bad mouthing me? I really like the company and people who I work with but I can't stand her. I would go for another company but my lack of experience in accounting makes it hard just to get an interview. I only got this job working as an temp and I was hired as a file clerk. I hope to actually gain some experience before moving on somewhere else.

It could go either way. She could want you to move on so she can get another employee that she likes, so she might support your move.

Or she may just be bitter and try to block your move.

Most companies will allow you to interview before consulting the other manager for her opinion. If that is the case at your company, I'd suggest knocking their socks off in the interview. When they ask you the question "Why do you want this job?" or "Why do you want to move?" keep it impersonal. Say something like you enjoy working at the firm and are ready for your next challenge so you can learn more of the business.

If she has the power to hire you, yes she can ruin your chances! I would try to just be nicer and get at least a little more on her good side, just for the sake of your career opportunities!
