Why won't my 2002 VW jetta start now that it's getting cold outside?
2002 VW jetta started fine during warm weather, but now that's getting cold I go out in the morning to start it and it wants to start, it turns over and some bluish/white smoke comes out the tailpipe and then it dies. If I let it sit 20-60 minutes, I go out and it starts right up and runs fine. It is not a diesel. Do I need a warmer on the engine at night, do I need dry-gas, do I need a different oil, do I need to use premium gas or could it be the security system as some have suggested. Don't think it's the latter, because I am doing everything the same as I always have, the only factor that has changed is the weather. Any help/suggestions anyone can provide is greatly appreciated. Have been late for work and had to inconvenience friends and family to come pick me up and take me.

Try getting better spark plugs. make sure that the gas is the right type. Also there is a possiblity that in your last fill up that the gas had water in it.
