2 weeks late but still negative hpt...?

My period is over 2 weeks late which is very rare for me. I have been getting sick in the morning and having lower backaches. I have taken numerous hpt's all coming up negative. I went to the ER after getting sick one morning and he did another urine which of course came up positive. He told me he could do a blood test, but they give the same results as a urine test...they are no different. This does not sound right to me as I have had friends that have gotten negatives on hpt's and a positive on a blood test. Does anyone have any insight into the blood test versus the urine test? Thanks for your help.

I am 2 weeks late right now and have taken a zillion home pregnancy test and all were negative.

BUT

WIth my other two kids, it took exactly 3 weeks before it showed up on a pregnancy test. So I am trying my hardest to be patient and wait another week before taking another test.
