5 days late for AF, with 2 negative HPT results... what is going on?

I had my IUD taken out last summer, as my husband and I wished to try to conceive. My periods were abnormal for a while, but I was assured by my doctor that this was normal, and they would regulate by themselves.

This past fall, they did. October, November, December and January, I started exact 31 day cycles, regular as the moon and tides.

This month I am 5 days late- and I am now getting acne, horrible lower back pain, and cramps that have me running to the bathroom every 20 minutes with a tampon in hand, expecting gushes; but no Aunt Flo. I've taken 2 pregnancy tests (a week apart) with negative results both times.

I've lived in this body for almost 25 years, and something is not normal. What is going on?

I had the same thing happen to me I was 12 days late and then AF came for a visit. Mine was just my cycle changing and mine has never done that before. I had the same symptoms of feeling like AF was coming every second. Just wait and if nothing after 14 days then test again. Good luck to you!

If you are late for your cycle it can be from any number of things. If you have taken two HPT"s with negative results you likely will get your period soon. If a few more days go by you can always retest or go to your doctor and ask for a blood test. I haven heard of women who have never had a positive HPT even when they were 9 months pregnant, it could be user error. A blood test should eliminate any doubt. 5 days is not bad, Once i was 40 days late and thought I was pregnant and kept taking HPT's with negative results. Finally i went to my doctor and had a blood test and they told me I was not, turns out my body was just malnourished and I stopped have a cycle until I corrected it.
