Filed late for Homestead exemption?





I filed late for Homestead exemption. I am going in front of the VAB (value assessment board) to explain why I was late for filing. My excuses are I was unaware of the exemption and did not know what is was. I am afraid they will not find this reason enough. So my question is what do they need to hear from me to excuse my tardiness. If I do not get this exemption I will not be able to make my house payments and have to sell my house. Please help if you can.

Sorry, I had the same problem, jacked my mortgage payment way up for over a year. Was told there was nothing that could be done about it since I had let the deadline pass. I have since fixed it by filing correctly. If you find out something I hope the best for you, but more than likely they aren't going to buy the "I didn't know" excuse since this is mentioned when you sign your mortgage papers.
