Installing Messenger Headache!!!?

I can't seem to install yahoo messenger on me & my boyfriends computer. Everytime I try to download it a little window pops up saying my security settings will not allow the download of this file. I've turned off almost all the security features on our "Norton Internet Security" but it still keeps giving me the same darn message. I hope one of you has had the same problem, conquered it & can give me some solutions. Thanks & wish me luck.

Is the "little window" by chance a yellow bar that goes across the top? Typically it says "allow active 'X' control" if so, all you have to do is click that and pretty much say yes. Make sure you have Java installed too. You will need that for some of the functions on YIM. :) Good luck!

i had the same problem once. i fixed it through drastic measures. i un-installed my norton internet security, then i downloaded yahoo messenger, then i re-installed my norton. hope this helps, good luck if you re-install the norton make sure you set it to allow yahoo messenger.|||i guess not only your Norton Internet Security is blocking the installation but maybe your Window's firewall is blocking it. Try to check it out if it's disabled. Set your internet setting option into medium for getting good connection in the net. restart your PC after uninstalling the messenger as it maybe the cause of failure re-installation also|||There is other internet security options in internet explorer. Go to internet explorer > tools > internet options > security. Try adding the site you are trying to install from e.g. www.yahoo.co.uk to the trusted sites list. Also you can try to download the file into your computer and take it on a flash driver or email it to your email account and open it on your friend’s computer…. All the best of luck.|||make sure u logged in to the computer (before you start installing) with administrator account, or at least with administrator privileges.

it seems the restriction came from the computer itself rather than 3rd party security program.
