Any idea how this one is - philips HTS3545 ?
hi.
thinking of buying our first HTiB. It will be in the living room of our apartment, so need not be too powerful.
* will mainly be for DVD viewing and regular TV enhancement.
* As we have have a few outside region dvd, it needs to be unlockable (I guess all of them are).
* The Philips one seems to be in the right price range.

So does the Sony DAV-DZ150

The Philips has USB direct as an added feature but no idea if thats a real plus, as we dont have an iPod or equivalent.
The Yamahas/Denons are above the price range I have in mind, and not easily available here in India.
Have you heard/used either or these?
All comments welcome.
Thanks!
Any idea how this one is - philips HTS3545 ?pacific theaterIts a HTIB what do you expect. The Denon and Yamahas will blow the Sony and Philips away in performance. You give price as a issue, so if you want a warm fuzzy feeling about the unit I will not give it! These are cost cut units to move product. The whole idea from Denon and Onkyo and Yamaha for HTIBs are a bedroom/dorm system not a main unit. To these companies sound quality comes first.
The HTIB ( started by SONY by the way ) has single handedly done the more damage to home cinema than anything else ( including Ben Affleck) . You don't have to spend a arm and a leg to get the best out of a system. But buy separates ( even used ) and get better bang for your buck.
