Front Projectors Pros's, Con's and recommendations?city operaIf you have a dedicated home theater room and can control the ambient light, front projection is definitely the way to go. I've had a projector in my living room for 2 1/2 years and I'm glad I went that route.
The pros are: the picture is AWESOMELY HUGE and gives you the feeling of being in the scene like nothing else. I'm projecting to 96" diagonal measure from 11 feet away -- and it cost me about $2k. It's a Sanyo Z2 (720p), which is the best they had back then for a reasonable price, but the picture is still fabulous.
You will probably want to buy both DVD/Blu Ray and a digital TV or digital cable/sat to run signals to your projector. In any case, the best thing for the sound is to run all sound sources to a reciever/amp and play everything through the best speakers you can afford.
