Ok what type of Audio receiver do I need if I want to connect my MP3 player to it?

I have 4 speakers I want to power with something that can read my mp3 player. These are ceiling speakers (4) rated @ 8ohms 60-120 watts. I can't seem to find an affordable receiver that has USB capabilities. Can I use a unit from a home theater system(They usually have usb connectivity)? I know i'll need a speaker selector, but I just can't believe receivers don't have a direct connection for USB? What are my options?

I want something to play background music, nothing fancy.

Can I basically use a cheap receiver $150 more or less and then connect a unit from a home theater system to send the signal via rca cables?
