Reciever Question?
I have an RCA 650 watt home theater system in my home. I want to use it in an outdoor application, say mounted in my garage to power some outdoor speakers I already have mounted. At the moment, I have a Kenwood reciever, but it lacks a subwoofer output. I have 4 Yamaha speakers with 6.5" woofers and 1" tweeters. One 12" subwoofer is mounted in my rafters. My question is: will the RCA home theater system deliver any bass response to the yamaha speakers or the subwoofer only or would I be better to buy a basic high wattage reciever with a subwoofer output? Thanks.
Reciever Question?theatreYou can get a basic receiver with a sub out for about $150. BUT, depending on how your sub works, if it has a line input or not, then you might be able to use the one you have. I still recommend the sub out option though.

It will have some bass response, but probably not the amount you are looking for. Is the subwoofer a powered unit? If it is then you should not have a problem, but if it is just a stand alone unit you may want to buy an subwoofer amp to power the unit (plus it will have the proper crossover in it). you could use one of the units in the link below.
